Sarah Flear celebrates 15 years at PKF SC
Congratulations to Sarah Flear who is celebrating her 15 year anniversary at PKF SC! We caught up with Sarah to find out more about her career journey.
Why did you join PKF Smith Cooper back in 2010?
I joined Smith Cooper because I had been at EY for over a decade. Back in 2010 I had two very young children and wanted to spend more time with them. Smith Cooper meant that could be a reality and I have more autonomy about how I worked. It was a great fit for me at the time, after 16 years of two other quite different firms I had worked at.
What has been your favourite memory so far?
I don’t really have one stand out memory, but I have really enjoyed my time here so far and it has changed so much in the last 15 years. Being a Partner here and contributing to that change is something I am proud of. I also have great memories of the various socials we have held, particularly in the early days in the Nottingham office.
What are you most looking forward to in the next 15 years?
I very much doubt I will be working in 15 years! So, spending time travelling the world is a big aim for me. There are so many places I want to go. And of course, supporting my family.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out at PKF Smith Cooper?
Go for it! By that I mean, it’s a place to work where you get plenty of autonomy, chances to do as much as you want, gain a lot of experience and have fun along the way.
Who has had the biggest impact on your journey here?
If you were stranded on a desert island and could choose 3 current PKFSC team members to be stranded with, who would you choose and why?
James Bagley because he’s practical and can cook and we’ve sat together at work for so many years and know we can weather a storm! Eddy George or Ali Raynor as we like running to pass the time! Tash, she makes me laugh! All 3 of them I have worked with for years. We have a great vibe in the Notts senior team and that keeps me coming to work with a positive outlook.
