Preparing for your interview
Six valuable tips that will help you with your interview
Interview tips
If your application is successful and you are invited for an interview - congratulations! This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your personality and discuss in more detail why you would be suitable for the role. Here are six valuable tips that will help you with your interview:
Prepare questions for us ahead of your interview
Your interview is a fantastic opportunity for us to get to know you better, but equally, it is your opportunity to get to know us better as an employer, as a team, and as individuals.
We recommend preparing two or three questions to ask us. These could be about the day-to-day responsibilities of the role, our company culture, or the qualifications and training you will complete.
Research and rehearse common interview questions
Practice interview questions and answers with a family member or friend to help you know exactly what you want to say during your interview. Preparing well-thought-out answers will help you articulate your thoughts clearly and concisely.
Dress smartly for your interview
Dressing smartly for your interview emphasises your commitment to the hiring process and makes a good and professional first impression. Whilst we have a dress for your diary policy, we would always recommend you attend interviews in smart clothing.
Arrive in good time
We recommend arriving 10 to 15 minutes before your interview starts. This should give you time to calm your nerves and look over any notes before the interview begins.
It emphasises to us that you are good with timekeeping and are eager to make an excellent first impression.
Take your time answering our questions
We are there to support you through the interview process. If we ask you a question and you are unsure of an answer, take your time and think about your answer carefully; there is no need to rush your responses.
We want to learn as much about you, your skills, and your experience as possible, so if you need us to rephrase a question you need clarification on, we will be more than happy to do so.
Maintain good body language
Your delivery and body language can be as important as what you say, so try to speak clearly and present yourself professionally. Offer a handshake when you first meet us to help us assess your nature and confidence.
When sitting in your interview answering our questions, give us good eye contact and don't be afraid to smile.
