Training and Qualifications Executive
Location: Derby, Nottingham or Birmingham - Hybrid working

In a brand-new role for our company, your work will be fundamental to building and strengthening the fast-growing team behind PKF Smith Cooper’s award-winning accounting and advisory services in the Midlands.
The number of trainees joining PKF Smith Cooper in recent years has grown significantly, mirroring growth across the firm, and this is set to continue to grow.
This growth has given rise to an exciting opportunity for a newly-created role which will see the successful applicant support with the Firm’s trainee professional qualification programmes and technical training across the business.
This role will play a key role in supporting the Firm’s team, Managers, and Partners people development needs. Reporting to the People Development Manager, you will have the opportunity to interact with key stakeholders across the Firm to identify, propose, and implement solutions that are key to attracting, retaining, and developing a highly skilled and engaged workforce.
The ideal candidate should hold an ACA or ACCA qualification and have experience in the practice environment.
The important work you will be doing:
- Support our HR team and Line Managers with new starter onboarding - ensuring all graduates, school leavers, and part-qualified trainees hold the required qualifications to commence training at the Firm in the applicable qualification areas.
- Register all trainees with the applicable professional bodies and the Firm’s training providers, and liaise with the training providers for any queries or issues involving trainees and the Firm’s training accreditation.
- Enrolling trainees for the apprenticeship scheme.
- Assist with and present inductions for new trainees/starters.
- Monitor and share internally all records of trainees, apprentices, and qualifieds and share activities relating to the accountancy, tax, and any other applicable professional qualifications including pathways, course attendance, course performance, and exam results.
- Support with scheduling all professional qualification and apprenticeship requirements for each trainee in conjunction with resource requirements in the divisions and reflect this in the resource planners.
- Day-to-day point of contact and communication with all trainees of the Firm. This includes answering questions on materials, courses, and exam results.
- Have regular monthly meetings with the professional bodies and training providers and handle periodic inspections for ongoing training status approvals with AAT, ICAEW, and ACCA.
- Offboarding leavers in relation to all of the above.
- Review training records and CPD hours to ensure they are being kept up to date.
- Support service line teams with planning and ensuring delivery of technical training programme.

The skills and experience you will bring:
- Qualified ACA or ACCA.
- Strong project and time management skills.
- Strong administrative skills (e.g. organisational, time keeping, and prioritising) as well as the ability to use initiative.
